Heart of America Health Plan is a locally administered, non-profit cooperative established in Rugby, N.D. in 1982. What began as the dream of Dr. Donald McIntyre has become the longest standing independent Health Maintenance Organization in North Dakota.

This revolutionary concept has developed into the building blocks of the health care system of today’s Heart of America Health Plan. The comprehensive, coordinated care administered by Heart of America Health Plan demonstrates that quality care and affordability are compatible.

Heart of America Health Plan offers health care options to employer groups, families and individuals in the Rugby, Minot, Bottineau service areas; and to Medicare eligible individuals in the Rugby and Bottineau service areas.
